About

What made Denmark so different, when the Nazi persecution struck down on the Jews? How could more than 95% be saved? What made thousands of ‘ordinary people’ engage in acts of rescue that we, today, deem heroic? What were the preconditions of the rescue, and which were the diverse motives of rescuers?

Join us for a special lecture by Professor Therkel Straede, who will be visiting Los Angeles from Denmark. He is a professor of contemporary history at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense is one of the world’s leading experts on the October 1943 rescue (and deportation) of the Jews from Denmark.
